Me at the top of Le Pouce looking towards Pieter Both, which is famous for the large boulder balanced at its very peak. Alistair, my bunkmate on the ship, and I took off one afternoon with the intent of getting to the top of something. Armed with nothing, we set out, and promptly got lost in the jungle. After several hours of hacking our way through the undergrowth, we finally found the path, and more importantly, a friendly group of Mauritians who pointed us towards a stream and a giant patch of Chinese gooseberries, which sustained us to the top.
